Let Sparks Fly with Harleen Kaur Bride Emily

Let Sparks Fly with Harleen Kaur Bride Emily

How did you both meet?

Neeraj and I met on Hinge in December 2018. At the time we lived close to each other in lower Manhattan. Being neighbors kickstarted the amount of time we were able to spend together very early in our relationship. Five months later I decided to hesitantly join him on a trip he had already planned to Peru, and the rest is history.

What made you choose the outfit you did for this event?

I was looking for something that could incorporate a white wedding dress into our traditional Indian wedding. The Mayra Set perfectly blended together the two styles. It was also lightweight which made dancing easy, and I felt the beautiful sequining was extra fun for the Sangeet.

What one moment will last with you both forever from your wedding weekend?

Neeraj and I grew up worlds apart and this was the first time many of our immediate family members were meeting each other. It was beautiful to see our families come together in India. It felt easy and natural despite the language barriers and cultural differences. Seeing our families together was truly special and something we’ll cherish forever.

What was the biggest surprise during your wedding weekend?

For me every day was a new surprise. I had never been to an Indian wedding before so the entire weekend was a whirlwind of exciting surprises. I think Neeraj and I are most surprised by how much fun we genuinely had the entire weekend and how well our families came together.

What advice would you give to future couples for their wedding?

Don’t be afraid to question the norms and stay true to yourselves. I think there’s always room to bring originality into tradition.

What was your experience like working with Harleen Kaur?

Working with Harleen Kaur and the team was so fun. I loved going to the showroom and trying on various options, with Harleen herself weighing in on the looks. The boutique experience is special and the designs are one of a kind.
