Where would you wear this outfit to?

I would wear this dress to a reception, a night out with friends, or a work event!

How would you describe this style :

A little extra / dressed up / slightly toned down / casual

Would you add any accessories and which ones?

For a reception: I would add a sheer gold sequin dupatta I already own with gold bangles, and a simple tiny bindi or one of those long, bold black and gold bindi under the left eye. (Sounds extra, I know but I tried it once and it worked out really well!)

For a dinner night with friends: I would style the dress with my favorite black moto jacket, go simple with the jewelry I always wear (rudraksha and evil eye bracelets + minimal gold rings), gold post earrings, and a silver crossbody because I love mixing metallics.

If I have time to do my nails, sheer polish with specs of gold!

For a work event, I would add a comfy black pullover knotted or pinned to cinch in the waist and style it with a gold chain, gold posts, and my everyday jewelry.

What shoes would you wear with this maxi dress?

Strappy heels for the mehendi or reception night and black booties for dinner with friends.

Makeup: full glam, minimal, none?

My go-to approach: tinted moisturizer, a little bit of concealer if needed, kush mascara, and some frank bod nude gloss or balm dot com.

To go a little extra for the wedding weekend: black winged liner or gold liner, mascara, and a gloss I’ve been obsessing over from Pat McGrath, the Gold Allure or Blitz Gold LUST GLOSS.

Hairstyle:

middle-part with soft waves for a South Asian wedding. High bun, slightly messy or sleek straight hair with a side part. If I'm feeling a little extra, turn a gold chain into a headband.

Flowy Dress Perks : LAYERING!

  • A maxi dress, or anything long a flowy, is the perfect disguise to wear leggings underneath to keep you warm and comfy during winter!
  • Can be layered endlessly–with a solid or graphic black tee knotted at the side or front, a comfortable pullover, or your favorite hoodie!
