A Sustainable Approach to Vinamrata's Wedding Weekend!

A Sustainable Approach to Vinamrata's Wedding Weekend!

What inspired you to incorporate sustainable elements like a recycled lining into your wedding outfit?

I have always been passionate about the climate ever since watching An Inconvenient Truth. Weddings require so many new textiles, and I wanted to see if there was a way to do it in a more eco-sustainable way. The recycled lining wasn't that expensive, and it helped me feel better about my environmental impact. It turned out better than I could have imagined!

What advice would you give other brides who want to make more sustainable choices for their weddings?

Ask the question. It might seem awkward, but vendors might be more amenable to it than you realized!

Did you have a favorite detail or little touch that guests might not have even noticed?

We organized a trivia game as a post-lunch programming on the day of our wedding, and one of our questions was for each table to figure out why they were seated together. It took us some work to figure out how to pool people together on commonalities that they might not have realized, and guests had a great time figuring it out!

Was there a piece of advice you received before the wedding that really stuck with you?

To soak it all in. It really goes by fast and it's worth taking it all in, regardless of whether it does or doesn't meet your expectations.

What were you most nervous about before the day started — and how did it turn out?

I'm a type A person so I was nervous about making sure everything followed schedule, but it all turned out better than expected.

What was your experience like working with Harleen Kaur?

So great! Harleen did such a great job of taking care of us! I absolutely loved my Sangeet outfit and had a blast dancing in it and got so many compliments. Given how modern the outfit is, I'm excited to reuse it at a future wedding too!
